Irritating shuttle rider

I hate it when people who know each other sit next to each other on the shuttle because then they feel obligated to talk to one another,  meaning the rest of the shuttle has to endure their insipid conversation for what should be a nice and quiet way to ease into the day.  To make it even worse, the women who was engaged in conversation was wearing earmuffs, meaning she had a hard time hearing herself so she was speaking more loudly that was warranted.  And on top of that, the last car of the metro wasn’t working so we all had to squeeze into the second to last car.  This is not a good sign…
